Marshall University, Huntington is an extremely competitive school to get into, only accepting around 20 out of an average of 300 applications each year. Students who do want to attend this FEPAC accredited university should do well in high school, undergraduate courses and examinations to stand up to the competition. Those who are lucky enough to get admitted have several resources they may take advantage of during their time spent here. Internships are offered in DNA Analysis, Forensic Chemistry, Digital Forensics, and Microbial Forensics. Plus there are crime laboratories scattered throughout the state that provide plenty of hands-on training under the supervision of professional forensic scientists.

Admission Requirements

The following items are required during the admission process:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a forensic or natural science
  • GPA 3.0 or higher
  • Combined GRE score of 1100 or higher
  • Complete 1-year of each of the following courses:
    • Biology
    • General Chemistry
    • Organic Chemistry
    • Physics
  • Complete the application
  • Personal request for admission
  • 3 letters of recommendation
  • Hepatitis B vaccination/titer or formal declination of vaccination
  • Completion of a background check
